My Inciting Incident

People often ask me when and how I started writing. This is the story of my inciting incident!
Growing up in a family of storytellers, Maia knew from a young age that she wanted to be able to share her stories and express herself through words. The written word was her favourite and she started reading early on; devouring books as fast as she could, whenever she could. It wasn’t long before she was encouraged to begin writing down the fantastical worlds she would create in her head and so the writing began.
Maia was about 9 or 10 when she finished her first story, a short story about a rescue dog named Black Widow (at the time the name sounded super cool, ok?) who saves the day when some kids get chased by a bear while walking in the woods. After that, there were a lot of false starts in novel writing, it wasn’t until Maia was 15 that she began her first novel. When she was 17 she finished her first novel, a novel of 50,000 words, consisting of prophecies, greek gods, and shapeshifters. While that one has yet to be read by anyone other than herself, it convinced her that she would actually be able to take on the challenge of writing and publishing a novel.
At the age of 19, Maia self-published Thrown To The Wolves and later that year, wrote and self-published the sequel, Rise Of The Wulves. In 2024 Maia took self-publishing to the next level and in collaboration with her mom, Cara Nunn, she published A Secret Never Told as a handbound, leather covered book of short stories about what happens to the Darling children after they return from Neverland! This book is now republished as a paperback on Amazon! Currently, Maia is in the process of writing a stand-alone fantasy novel set in modern times filled with prophecies, magic and modern day issues like phones dying mid navigation and complicated love. Maia's goal is to have 5 books published by the time she is 25.
